The Road Goes Ever On and On…

On Sunday, May 16th I started a small event project I have wanted to do for a long time; a 13 part presentation of The Lord of the Rings.

For our first session, We were lucky enough to have Mistletoe in attendance,  who was most generous in sharing her fireworks with us, in honor of Gandalf, and of course, Bilbo’s eleventy-first birthday!

Yesterday (Sunday, May 23rd!)  We launched in to part two, but due to a low turn out and some technical difficulties we had to cut it short.

In order to make sure as many people as possible get to hear the story, I will be doing two sessions per week.  Every Sunday at 12pm SLT, and every Thursday at 6pm SLT.

I really hope more people will come to join us. This is a great way to get a short and sweet version of the epic story for people who have never heard it before.  It’s truncated, so the less exciting parts of the book have been summarized nicely.  For those who have never read the books, or seen the movie, it could fill in a lot of gaps about the origins of some fantasy concepts, (Rangers, for instance, come from the Lord of the Rings.) You might be surprised to find out things you are doing in Role-play are linked to this story.

I find that usually, people who love Lord of the Rings already, will sit down to hear the story again and again. So I really think it is a good event for everyone!
